Oh boy, do I love daydreaming. The "real world" has currently left me with a lot of it, too. I hang out in my head, and wonder what it would be like to actually live on the West Coast, or to spend another week amongst the evergreens of Oregon. And wish I was running through wildflowers and creating sweet images in the Mediterranean Sea instead of soaking up the luminance of my laptop screen. What would happen if I just hopped on the plane, or called it all reality? I suppose, it's truly possible.
I'd love to be called a free spirit, and the Sagittarius in me is dying to constantly roam around the world with bare feet and my Canon camera at my side. I want to be stepping into sweet waterfalls in the afternoon, and posing along the bright lights of a city sidewalk late at night. When wonder and passion make an appearance, life just feels interesting again. And the simple things don't seem even the slightest bit boring.
What kind of flowers would you put in your hair? When the world is blooming, few seek out dandelions, in particular. They just wait until there's a wish to blow away, and leave behind those yellow hues. Assuming you take a second to lay down in the messy field for a while, though, you'll see that there's really something rare and rad about a sprout that takes no sh*t. These weeds really just grow wherever their seed happens to fall, and are independent as ever. You don't have to walk back to that sea of grass with water, or wonder if they'll become exactly what they're supposed to. Dandelions will just bloom, and we could all use a little of their lifestyle in our own. Combining the structure of earth with the bold and effortless beauty of sunshine and bright tones. Pulling on the pebbles of the East Coast, and pairing them with the free-flowing and wild flower children of the southwest. That's bringing two sides of the spectrum together, and creating something electric. And on that note, let's talk Tassle + Co.
I found this brand just scrolling through the 'Gram, and loved the "feel good" style. Anyone close to me will tell you that my fashion sense focuses on being comfy and cute. A pair of denim jeans or heels that could get me to the galaxy just aren't ideal when there's so much life to live. I'd rather put on a sundress, or an oversized tee this summer, so that I'm ready for whatever wanderlust may have in mind. Seriously, sipping on some lemonade is sweeter with slides and a crewneck sweatshirt to snuggle up in — especially when the sun goes just below the horizon line at the shore.
Tassle + Co. is a "women's clothing marketplace for the independent, creative, take-no-sh*t types" out there. Nothing says self-love more than being wholeheartedly yourself, and fashion is the best way to let our personalities roam free. A shirt with a cactus lets the world know we love succulents, and a pair of vintage Levi's make us feel artsy and one-of-a-kind. In those moments, it's almost less about being trendy (That would be so boring, although comes with the territory.) and more about sticking to what sets our souls on fire. A girl with a fierce sense of self and the right outfit will always crush it in life, let's be honest.
Everything from this brand is carefully selected from small designers and ethically imported brands. The second you get your order, you'll notice the eco-friendly packaging that maybe matches the bold sunflower overalls you ordered. Fashion is finally going forward, and I'll always support going green, even if it's just including touches of teals in my outfit.
In this shoot, I'm wearing Tassle + Co.'s safari romper. I paired the piece with gold and grey accents that you'll see in my bracelets, choker, and Steve Madden slides. I'm trying to branch out into wearing more color, but love adding neutrals into a look wherever I can. The color of the romper was so saturated, and in this particular outfit, I didn't want to pull any focus from it with accessories. Not to mention, I love doing shoots outside, and that requires a lot of earthy tones.
THE LOOK: The Safari Romper - Tencel (Tassle + Co., $72); Gold choker; Grey bracelet with gold circle (Pura Vida Bracelets, $20, Something similar here.); Seed Bead Ice Cream Anklet (Pura Vida Bracelets, $24); Grey slides (Steve Madden at DSW, $50)

The 'flowers in her hair' shoot also comes with a short video produced and edited by Kevin Savage. This was my first time modeling for any sort of film, and I'm in love with what came of it. Running with butterflies was unexpected, and there was a lot of sneezing afterwards (Allergy season, what can I say.) Check it out on my Instagram (@marisataylor24) for about fifty seconds of life lived in a dreamworld.
After all, that's where my head is at already. Every second, I'm looking for the eclectic. The thoughts and flowers that at first glance don't make sense together. It's blurry and unusual, but then you look at them a little longer, and maybe at a different perspective, and suddenly a dandelion is a whole lot more than a weed. Reality is really just what you make of it. Just like our style, our experiences, and our attitudes. You could live life calling it nonsense, or find wonder in even the little things.
Let's keep daydreaming, okay?
Love always, Marisa
