the portland video

June 06, 2018 by Marisa Taylor in wanderlust, youtube

It only took four days in Portland for me to completely fall in love with the West Coast. The evergreens, the teal water, and the coffee shops. The mountains, artsy people, and every bit of passion in between. I could easily see why people choose to spend their entire lives in Oregon, or even just a few hours south in California. Life is seemingly so much less stressful than it is here on the East Coast, and it's all about creating something beautiful for yourself, rather than just chasing after the next thing.

Making this video was an experience in itself, and I'm so excited to continue capturing my travels as they come. I'll be back to the Pacific Northwest so soon. I can just feel it! But for now, I'm just getting glimpses of these trips for you — and me and my wanderlust, too.

As always, be sure to follow along with me on YouTube and Instagram! Subscribe or follow at @marisataylor24 to stay updated on where I'm going and what I've been up to. Next video: New York City. Stay tuned!

Love always, Marisa

just beachy

April 17, 2018 by Marisa Taylor in fashion forward

A sunny Saturday in late March // I'm feeling just beachy when it's the weekend. The days when it's warm even though it's not supposed to be quite yet, put me straight in the mood to adventure and call trips to the next town over "traveling." You're probably tired of hearing about my wanderlust, and I promise I'll be on a plane and taking pictures in much more exciting places soon enough. But, for now, these drives to the the Connecticut shoreline with my girl crew will be just fine.

Putting someone else behind the camera to recreate my visions is always interesting for me. My friends did good, though, and this afternoon was a chance to try out some new editing and mess with my very own presets before summertime and my travels truly come around.

This look is a lot of denim — which, if you know me, is kind of unexpected. Jeans aren't really my go-to ever, but on a windy afternoon by the coastline, it was necessary. Layering with a fitted grey top and oversized white cardigan made this outfit the comfy I can get behind. And if you look close enough, you'll see some touches of gold to go along with that brighter state-of-mind.

Cue "Saturday Sun" off the latest Vance Joy album, because there's going to be so many more sunny days like this one. Thank goodness, I just can't wait any longer and always looking to live well.

THE LOOK: Oversized jean jacket (Brandy Melville, $45); Grey 3/4 sleeve top (Brandy Melville, $22); Mom jeans (Brandy Melville, $38); White oversized knit cardigan (PacSun, $50); Chesnut brown booties (Lucky Brand, $129); Anklet (Pura Vida Bracelets, $24); Grey bracelet with gold circle (Pura Vida Bracelets, $20); Sunglasses (H&M, $10)
